TMJ Disorder, or Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, is the difficulty of using the joint that connects the jaw to the temporal bones of your skull. This joint allows you to talk, chew and yawn, so when it is affected, these functions can be painful.

Symptoms of TMJ Disorder include:

  • Chronic pain in your jaw and face
  • Popping sounds when you chew or talk
  • Headaches
  • Lockjaw
  • Problems when you try to open your mouth wide

While TMJ Disorder is uncomfortable, it can lead to serious damage to your teeth and jaws if ignored and left untreated. We suggest coming in for a consultation if you are experiencing any of these symptoms. We can properly diagnose you and find the source of the pain, and formulate a treatment plan with you. Treatments may include the use of a custom made nightguard to ease the stress on your jaw while you sleep.
